Aagman 2022-23

Day 1

Event Day 1

When new students enter an institution, they come with diverse thoughts, backgrounds and preparations. They come into a new unfamiliar environment and many of them have little knowledge of a university / college. An important task, therefore, is to welcome new students to Higher Education and prepare them for their new role. Student Induction is designed to help in the whole process. Student Induction Programme engages with the new students as soon as they come into the institution; before regular classes start. At the start of the induction, the incumbents learn about the institutional policies, processes, practices, culture and values, along with some expert lectures. The opening of Induction programme ‘AAGMAN’ 2022 was held in the seminar hall at SIT, Nagpur. It started with a short film about SIT, Nagpur. They were also addressed by Dr.Latika on Academic structure , and addressed by Dr. Bahadure on Examination and evaluation system. The Campus Admin Mr. Sanjay Shrivastava also addressed the students.

In the afternoon session Mr. Devang Chhaya presented a session on organ donation and road safety called ‘Gift of Life’ which inspired a lot of students. The students were also addressed by Dr.Khomane, Dr.Poorva Agrawal, and Mrs. Monali Gulhane on Anti-ragging, Internationalization, and LMS registration process.

Day 2

Event Day 2

With curiosity and enthusiasm here was the day second of the induction programme. The function was held in the Seminar Hall, SIT, Nagpur.

The students were introduced to the Student Representative council and central clubs where they were guided for the enrolment process. In the second session the students were taken to DSRW (Department of Sports, Recreation and Wellness) for a team-bonding activity in which students bonded with each other in different activities and enjoyed a lot. there was a guidance session for uploading documents on ERP portal.

Day 3

Event Day 3/1

The event was conducted in Seminar Hall, at SIT Nagpur. Mr. Devang Chayya conducted a session called ‘Sound of Silence’ where he made the students aware about the problems of Deaf and Dumb people, to identify and to help them. The session inspired a lot of students. A session was conducted by Mrs. Kausar Imran, in which she talked about mental and psychological well-being.

Event Day 4

Day 4 of Induction 2022 started with great zeal and gusto. Mr. Shrikant along with Mrs. Sudha conducted a session on Meditation. His session guided about the emotional and physical benefits of meditation. Dr. Pangaonkar conducted a session on a much needed element in one’s life, that is, Self-Motivation. He motivated students about gaining a new perspective on stressful situations with self-awareness and self-motivation.

Day 5

Event Day 5/3

The same eagerness and keenness was continuing on the day fifth of the induction programme. Mr. Shrikant sir along with Dr. Sudha conducted a session on Mindfulness. He introduced the students to the concept of Cleansing the Inner Self and leading a Positive life.

There was a session on Personality Development and Grooming by Mrs. Veena Bahekar. She emphasized on the points of self-development and importance of grooming as well as the benefits of the combination of both these elements.

Day six of induction programme presented with robustness as there were ‘healthy’ sessions of Yoga and Zumba.

There was a session on Yoga by Mr. Shrikant and Mrs. Sudha. Mrs. Chanda hosted a Zumba session for the students in the SIT building. Students were filled with enthusiasm and enjoyed this unconventional activity to make sure they have a great health.

Event Day 8

29th of August 2022, the 8th day of the induction programme was started off by a very engaging topic. The topic was Lateral thinking, the guest speaker for said topic was Mr. Nishant Nikam followed by Mr. Arun Kose on the topic of innovation, the topics were resonating with each other and hence made the session more engaging and thought provoking.

The next segment of the programme was conducted online and was about ‘Symbicare’. Amongst so many distinguished guests, the students interacted with speakers including- Dr. Vaishali Jundre, Dr. Alka Chandak, Dr. Pawan Bisht, Ms. Simran Jhambia, Dr. Kedar Tambe and Dr. Kavitha Menon. This session informed the students about vivid facilities and the diverse and lively culture that Symbiosis University offers in its campus.

Day 9

Event Day 10

30th of August 2022, the 9th day of the induction programme was started with signing of an MOU with CFT, in order to improve the employability of students by imparting skills and making them industry ready. The session was carried out with students having an intelligent interaction with a very regarded speaker, Mr. Shrikant Ardhapurkar (a cyber-crime and corporate crime investigator) on the topic of Emerging Technology. The highly interactive session resulted in students asking some very relevant questions. The programme was then continued by Dr. Girija Mahale (Head at Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Well-being) along with Ms. Simran Jhambia. The session was on the topic of Anxiety management which led students to very solid solutions to different forms of anxiety and also educated the gathering well.

Day 10

Event Day 10/3

The 10th day of the induction programme was continued with same enthusiasm experienced on day 1 The morning session was with the speaker, Mrs. Kausar Imran. The students had an in-depth talk about stress management alongside dealing with procrastination. The session ended with the Director of SIT Nagpur, addressing the students about overcoming the stress. After a short break, the students went ahead and had a very energetic and healthy session at DSRW (Department of Sports Recreation and Wellness) along with Dr. Pawan Bisht. The session measured and tested the students’ strength and cardiovascular capabilities by engaging in exercises like planks, wall pleas and toe touches. The session resulted in students realizing their capabilities in terms of physical prowess and motivated them to get better.

Day 11

Event Day 11

The 11th day of the induction programme was continued by the speaker Mr. Nishant Nikam, on the topic, Lateral thinking. As discussed in the prior session, students were told to come up with innovative ideas and present them and showcase their creativity in fields not limited to just technical knowledge and rather more on their Lateral and creative thinking capabilities. Students presented ideas like aiding the blind by aiming to make a proximity sensor device and also managing recyclable waste materials, just to name a few. After a short break, the session was continued on an online platform by Dr. Renuka on the topic Sexual harassment and Gender sensitisation. The students had a very informative and in-depth talk on the topics.

Day 12

Aagman Event Day 12

Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur has started the new academic session for the B. Tech. Computer Science & Technology students of batch 2022-26 with Induction and Orientation programme. The academic and holistic guiding sessions of induction programme had been set concluding with grand Cultural Programme by the new students. The Institute has signed an MOU with CFT (Crypto Forensics Technology), Nagpur. The Institute has also charted ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Student Chapter. Along with this the Institute also formed Faculty Chapter with ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education). The cultural programme had also included the publication of SIT, Nagpur’s first E Magazine ‘TECHMATES’. The welcome address was delivered by Director, SIT, Nagpur.

SIT Nagpur Cultural Club has organized GROOVE AND GLAM. Students from 1st and 2nd year participated to showcase their talents. Total 60 students participated in the event. The event was organized by keeping in mind the rules and regulation of campus.

Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur conducted a Debate competition “WORD WAR” for the first- and second-year students of BTech. The event was organized by Literary Club.

The purpose of the debate competition was to improve the students' public speaking abilities and educate them how to be articulate when expressing their ideas and opinions. The discussion was a kaleidoscope of ideas, perspectives, and viewpoints.

In the first round, each team first expressed their opinions on the question, "Is Social Media Ruining the Society? Naturally, this resulted in a wide range of opposing opinions, both for and against the squad. From year carry 4 team forward and eliminating rest of the teams a panel debate based on a video clip was held in the second round, known as the Video Debate, Was Thanos correct in his belief that maintaining the balance of the universe required eradicating half of humanity? as expressed in the footage from the well-known fictitious film Avengers: Infinity War.

Points presented were accepted by the spectators with cheers and claps. Some of the points even made us think about the facts. There was so much talent in the room. Arguments were made and roved.

The event was judged by Dr. Sagar Kumar Badhiye, Dr. Nishant Nikam, Dr. Muktinath Vishwakarma under the presence of – Director SIT Nagpur and Miss Sneha Thomas- Teacher In-charge Literary Club. There were 6 teams 24 students participated in this event with great enthusiasm.

Eureka!

  • The literary club of SIT Nagpur had its first-ever event “Eureka!” which was a quiz surrounded by the amazing four rounds: Fastest Finger, Stumper, Briskly War, and Game Show (rapid fire).
  • The quiz was played by the teams consisting of three members each, in each level, the teams got eliminated leaving only two strong and witty teams to face off in the last round (rapid fire).
  • The event was organized in the seminar hall where all the members of the club and fellow volunteers helped make this event successful.
  • After going through all the rounds, the wild card entry team in the third round actually ended up winning the quiz! It was fun for all the participants, teachers, and organizing members of the same.

Social Responsibility Activity Distribution of Accessories to NOMAD’s Children
Group Event

The second ISR activity organised by Social Club of SIT, Nagpur in association with Youth for Sewa (NGO) under the guidance of Director, SIT, Nagpur, Mr.Vinay Chawla, founder (Youth for Sewa),Mr.Pravin Kuthey, Co-founder (Youth for Sewa). Dr.Purushottam Shobhane, Dr. Sagar Badhiye, Ms. Monali Gulhane, Mr.Multinath Vishwakarma, Ms. Sneha Thoms,Dr. Pradnya Borkar and Mr.Nishatn Nikam (Social Club Incharge) alongwith 35 students from first and second year participated in this drive. This drive aims to share various stationary accessories and clothes to nomad’s children resided at Omkar Nagar, Nagpur on the occasion of children’s day. Students and faculty celebrated Children’s day by playing with children and teaching poems, drawings to them.

Social Responsibility Activity Distribution of Accessories to NOMAD’s Children

The first ISR activity organised by Social Club of SIT, Nagpur in association with Youth for Sewa (NGO) under the guidance of Director, SIT, Nagpur, Mr.Vinay Chawla, founder (Youth for Sewa),Mr.Pravin Kuthey, Co-founder (Youth for Sewa). Dr.Purushottam Shobhane, Ms. Monali Gulhane, Dr. Pradnya Borkar and Mr.Nishatn Nikam (Social Club Incharge) alongwith 21 students from first and second year participated in this drive.

This drive aims to share clothes with needy people, especially nomads resided National Cancer Hospital, Nagpur. Students and faculty members of SIT distributed clothes to children, men and women. Students discussed the issues which they felt needed to be solved. These types of activities help students to be active and come to know the situation of others and serve themselves for the development of society.

On 26th November 2022, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur in association with DSRW organized an Intra-Institute VOLLEYBALL competition, LET’S VOLLEY under the guidance of Director, SIT Nagpur; Dr. Pawan Bisht, Asst. Skill O Mania 18-19 December 2021

The Department of Sports, Recreation and Wellness (DSRW) in association with the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Nagpur organised Skill-O-Mania 2.0, an Inter SIU Nagpur Competition on 18th and 19th Dec 2021.

In this sports activity students from Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur participated and won lots of prizes. Sports include were Volleyball, Basketball, Futsal, Chess, Carrom TT, Walkathon. Activities were conducted in supervision of faculty members and all protocols for covid-19 were followed by all faculty members and students.

SIT Nagpur ACM Student Chapter and Technical Club has organized CompiKode 1.0 on 19-11-2022 from 12:00 noon onwards. Students from 1st and 2nd year participated to showcase their competitive programming skills. Total 41 Teams consisting of 3 members each participated in the event. The event was organized by keeping in mind the competitive programming skills required by a budding software engineers. It helped students to get acquainted with the conceptual problems and test case based solutions on them.

Expert Tech Talk

SIT Nagpur ACM Student Chapter and Technical Club has organized Technical Talk by Mr. Ketan Paithankar, Co-Founder, Konverge.AI, Nagpur on 12-11-2022 from 11:30 am onwards.

Mr. Ketan Paithankar, in his talk made students aware about the importance of AI and ML in the various field of Information Technology and also shared his experience of participating in various events in his college days that helped him to build a career as an Entrepreneur in AI. The response from students was overwhelming and students suggested to organize more such talks under the Technical Club.

Workshop on Intro to FullStack Website Development

SIT Nagpur ACM Student Chapter and Technical Club has organized a Peer-to-Peer workshop on Intro to FullStack Development on 26-11-2022 from 12:00 pm onwards. Students of 2nd year Prathmesh Yadav and Vedant Bhoyar under the mentorship of Dr. Sagarkumar S. Badhiye and Er. Muktinath Vishwakarma talked about the scope of the field and also introduced the participants to the basics of the languages of web HTML and CSS from scratch.

The event was organized to make the students able to utilize coding and software tools to analyze and present data in a professional manner that could be translated to web-based or app-based media. This workshop helped the students prepare for the next technical event on Web Development which will be announced soon. The response from students was overwhelming and students suggested to organize more such workshops under the Technical Club.
