Innovation Cell (I-Cell), Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur, has been established with the objective of practising innovation based on experiential learning to inculcate excellence within Technocrats, Researchers and Inventors (TRI). Thereby developing and fostering a business model based on the latest technology, having innovation and scalability as an essential component with the highest profit and lowest risk. Members of I-Cell are working with the fullest conviction and capacity to align the indomitable minds of SITians with the statement at the top. In addition, it has been envisioned to become a world-class technology-driven innovation centre and provide a universal platform for innovative development for the benefit of budding entrepreneurs, corporate houses & society at large.
Dr. Mohankumar N
Dr. N. Mohankumar is currently serving as Professor (Research) at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur Campus. He joined the Nano Device Simulation Laboratory in 2007 and worked as a Senior Research Fellow under the CSIR Direct Scheme until September 2009. Under his academic tenure, Memoranda of Understanding were signed with the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. In 2010, he was invited as a Visiting Professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology for three months. He subsequently served as a Visiting Professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA, for two months in 2012, and at the National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, as a Research Professor for two weeks in 2013.
Dr. Mohankumar is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has served as Secretary of the IEEE EDS Calcutta Chapter (2007–2010) and Chairman of the IEEE EDS Madras Chapter (2010–2017). He has published more than 95 research articles in reputed international journals and over 100 papers in international conferences. He was the recipient of the Career Award for Young Teachers (CAYT) from AICTE, New Delhi, for the period 2012–2014.
Under his supervision 20 Ph.D. scholars have completed their research, and more than 50 M.E./M.Tech students have completed their thesis. He is currently supervising three Ph.D. scholars. His research interests include the modelling and simulation of HEMTs, device optimization for RF applications, and the characterization of advanced HEMT architectures, as well as Terahertz electronics, high-frequency imaging, sensors, communication systems, and device optimization using AI and advanced machine learning algorithms.
Dr. Shyam Pratap Singh
Teacher In-Charge
As an in charge of I-Cell, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Nagpur. I am trying to develop a true sense of an interdisciplinary, innovative ecosystem powered by experiential learning leading towards a multi-business model.
I have completed my Ph.D. from BIT Mesra, Ranchi, M. E in ECE from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiyala and B. E in E&TC from RGPV, Bhopal.
I have published various research papers in reputed IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley and Taylor’s Francis journals. Apart from numerous SCOPUS papers from international conferences in India and abroad, I supervised 03 PhD scholars (1 awarded & 2 ongoing). Designed and taught “AI-enabled Molecular Nano Communication System” and “Seminar Course Design” apart from teaching various subjects of elite branches such as Introduction to Machine Learning and Deep Learning with Neural Network.
I am a Fellow of IETE, a Member of IEEE and a Member of GISFI, India.
Fostering Creativity and Innovation
The Innovation Cell at SIT Nagpur aims to cultivate an innovative ecosystem where students can unleash their creativity and explore innovative ideas across various disciplines.
Promoting Collaboration and Networking
Facilitating interactions among students, faculty, industry experts, and entrepreneurs to foster collaboration and networking opportunities, thereby enhancing interdisciplinary innovation.
Providing Learning Platforms
Offering workshops, seminars, and hands-on training sessions to equip members with essential skills such as design thinking, problem-solving, prototyping, and project management, necessary for innovation.
Supporting Entrepreneurship
Providing support and resources to aspiring student entrepreneurs, including mentorship, access to funding opportunities, and guidance in developing viable business plans to bring innovative ideas to market.
Creating Impactful Projects
Encouraging members to work on projects that address real-world challenges, aiming to create tangible solutions with a positive impact on society, industry, and the environment.
